Children are our future
"I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside."_ Whitney Houston
Children, who will become the youthful leaders of tomorrow, are the future of Myanmar. Depending on how we educate and nurture them will determine how large a role they play in the resurgence of this country. People in the administrative fields of Myanmar should be aware of this and start making investments to ensure a good education infrastructure for lifelong learning and introduce literature to children to nurture the hunger for learning, for their future as well as the future of the nation.
There are far too many children who leave school too early and work in tea shops, factories, and other low-paid jobs. What needs to be emphasized is that encouraging young people to stay in school and complete their education, if possible, get an undergraduate degree, to get better jobs and reach their ultimate goals in their life.
Financial support is necessary for low-income families to keep their children in school and scholarships for those who want to pursue higher education. Investment in education has exponential gains to the younger generations in economic growth and stability and improves their personal lives with better career opportunities.
I hope that there will be an entire generation of Myanmar youths who will be the first in their families to graduate from college and help themselves, their families and their country. The time to invest in our children is now, like Myanmar, once the wealthiest country in Southeast Asia, stands on the brink of achieving its former greatness.
